The police are looking for an 18-year-old after a teen was shot in a Keele Street apartment over the weekend.
Fifteen-year-old Shalldon Samuda was declared dead in hospital after police were called to his mid-rise apartment block near Sheppard Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Det. Kevin Côté told the Star that there were others in the apartment at the time of the shooting. Ellion Brown, 18, is now wanted for second-degree murder.
Côté said Samuda’s family has been having ongoing vigils for him in the area.
“When it’s a teenager, there’s a level of tragedy,” he said of the homicide. “It crushes a family. It impacts a community.”
Côté said Samuda and Brown did know each other but their connection is still “murky” to investigators.
Brown is described by police in a press release as six-foot, 220 pounds, with chin-length braided hair.
Samuda is the second young person under the age of 18 to be killed in Toronto this year. His was the 46th homicide of the year.
