Homes Under The Hammer star Martin Roberts says he will ‘never be the same again’ after undergoing an emergency heart operation. The former ITV I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star had an emergency operation to remove fluid which was “stopping my heart from working”.
Roberts went to hospital with a “few chest pains” and “generally feeling lousy” before discovering it was a lot more serious. The star is now recovering at his seaside holiday cottage in Devon.
The 58-year-old opened up about how he needs to slow down. But he added that he is determined to continue filming the hit BBC show which made him a household name.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I feel so very lucky to be here. I could have died but I’m here. I’ll never be the same person again.
“I like being on the go, I’ve been presenting Homes Under The Hammer for 19 years and I’m determined to make it to 20, next May. There are still so many things I want to achieve, but I know I have to take things slowly from now on.
“I can’t and don’t want to return to the frantic life I led before. I’ve been given a second chance and I don’t intend to waste it.”
