Villa Park expansion hint spotted
Villa have confirmed preliminary designs have been created to develop their iconic stadium and home, Villa Park.
The arena currently holds 42,825 spectators, but the capacity is set to increase to over 50,000 when construction has been completed on a new North Stand and Villa released a statement earlier this month regarding plans to expand Villa Park.
It read: “Preliminary designs have been created to transform our iconic home at Villa Park including building a new North Stand, upgrading and expanding our hospitality facilities and creating an entirely new venue to bring our retail and merchandising activities, as well as other entertainment activities, into the 21st century.
“Capacity of the stadium would increase to over 50,000 upon completion of the first phase. The plans would enable more Villa fans to enjoy a newly enhanced matchday experience as well as being a catalyst for change in our community and neighbourhood.”

Villa target ‘agrees’ transfer
AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie has reportedly agreed a deal with Barcelona.
The Ivory Coast midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and able to sign for another club on a free transfer when the current campaign ends.
Kessie has been linked with a move to Villa, who are expected to sign a new defensive-minded midfielder in the summer.
Villa want to bring in a player who can anchor Gerrard’s midfield with Yves Bissouma and Kalvin Phillips, of Brighton and Leeds United respectively, both linked with a move to Villa Park.
Dortmund ‘eyeing’ Villa deal after Gerrard comments
Borussia Dortmund have again been linked with a move for Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka has been mentioned as a potential transfer target for Dortmund before with Liverpool and Manchester United also credited with an interest in the 18 year-old.
Out of contract at the end of next season, Chukwuemeka’s situation at Villa is a big talking point among fans with the central midfielder highly-rated by the club.
But Villa could lose him for nothing in January with the youngster able to begin talks with overseas clubs about a pre-contract agreement that would begin next summer.

Youngster Pires loves linked with Villa
Villa reportedly ‘want’ to sign River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
According to reports in Argentina, Villa are keen on landing the player with their Premier League rivals Everton, West Ham United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also said to hold an interest in the 21 year-old.
El Crack Deportivo claims that River manager Marcelo Gallardo has one eye on the summer transfer window with the 46 year-old ‘worried’ about Fernandez’s future with Real Madrid also linked with a move for the youngster.
